Dear Raleigh Hills Families and Community,
We are currently living through a once-in-a-lifetime event. The disruption to our daily lives is enormous. We miss your students terribly and wish that we could be working with them each day. As you may know, one of the best ways to help students keep up their skills it to have them reading and writing every day! If you could get 2-3 thirty-minute sessions a day, your child would benefit greatly! Please consider following the district's remote learning page. There are a lot of great activities posted there. However you can get your hands on books and reading material, that is most important.
I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of this community. Many people have offered friendship as well as food and other basic necessities. I could not be more proud to be part of Raleigh Hills. That being said, the best thing that you can do to help us at this time is to donate money directly to the Oregon Food Bank. They have the infrastructure to help our community broadly. While teachers, staff and community volunteers want to be out delivering things and helping individuals, the best thing we can do to help is to stay home and take all precautionary measures to keep this virus from spreading. This might feel like doing nothing, but it is the MOST IMPORTANT thing we can do at this time.
Don't forget that we will be providing meals curbside for breakfast and lunch at Raleigh Hills every weekday except during spring break, March 23-27. Please bring your students. They must be present, but any child 1 and up will receive a meal.
Watch the BSD Webpage for updates daily. Check our Raleigh Hills twitter @rh_k8 for fun and information. Take care of yourselves. Call a neighbor on the phone. Encourage your students to as well. WE will get through this together!
Principal DeMartino's Message
It is my pleasure to welcome you to Raleigh Hills! I am honored to be able to work with talented students, dynamic teachers, and incredibly supportive parents. Our goal at Raleigh Hills is to collaborate with students, staff, and parents to provide a safe, nurturing, inclusive environment in which students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Raleigh Hills staff is deeply committed to our students and their learning. We will teach to high academic standards and develop the creative and critical thinking skills students need to be productive, responsible citizens and leaders in a changing, global society. We want students of Raleigh Hills to have the life skills to be able to reach and attain any future goal and/or post secondary option they may choose to pursue.
I am very excited to work with students, staff, and families to continue building a community of thoughtful, caring learners. Each year we have a fresh opportunity to recommit to each other and our community. Together we are always better. Please take advantage of opportunities throughout the year to participate in the Raleigh Hills Community. There are a variety of ways to support your child’s learning inside and outside of the school day. Please visit our PTO Website to find out about the many opportunities to get involved.
Together we can inspire both the hearts and minds of all children. Thank you for visiting our website.
Jennifer DeMartino, Principal
